Why We Ask for Tax Information
Hibug is required to withhold Personal Income Tax (PIT) from author payouts and donations before transferring funds, and to keep an auditable record of who was paid what. To do this correctly, we need your legal name, address, and tax registration details to match your government tax records.
Verifying Your Tax Code
Vietnamese authors should verify their tax code using one of these official government lookup tools:
- tracuunnt.gdt.gov.vn — General Department of Taxation lookup
- masothue.com — third-party tax code lookup
Authors from other countries should use the equivalent public government tax portal for their jurisdiction.
What You Need to Submit
- Full legal name — must match the name on your tax registration
- Address — must match the address on your tax registration
- Tax ID — your tax identification number
- Screenshot — a screenshot of your tax registration record from the lookup tool above, showing your tax code, name, and status. Use the Template button on the tax form to see an example of what this should look like.
Review Process
After you submit your tax information, our team reviews it and verifies the screenshot against your submitted details. You'll be notified once your tax information is verified — publishing and writing new posts unlocks at that point. Any change to your tax details afterward requires re-verification.
